The University of Abuja's (UNIABUJA) governing board has authorized the promotion of 44 academic staff members to the ranks of professors and associate professors despite the fact that they have been on strike for five months.

In February of this year, the teachers joined their colleagues in Nigerian universities to go on a nationwide strike.

22 employees were elevated to the rank of professor during the UNIABUJA exercise, while 20 employees were advanced to the status of associate professor.

The promotion of two bursary employees to the position of deputy bursar was also approved by the council. Their promotion occurred while the academics were on strike.

Council reviewed and authorized the promotions at its 92nd and 93rd regular meetings, which were held on March 30th and 31st, 2022, and June 28th and 29th, 2022, respectively.

Dr. Habib Yakoob, the head of information and university relations, provided a breakdown of the promotion list in a press release yesterday. He said the academic staff received promotions across a variety of disciplines.

"Seven employees in veterinary medicine, four in law, three in economics, three in biological sciences, two in guidance and counseling, and two in mathematics all received promotions.

Theater arts, medicine, and other fields are represented among the promoted personnel.

The vice-chancellor, Professor Abdul-Rasheed Na'Allah, congratulated the personnel and said their promotion was evidence of their ongoing commitment, diligence, and discipline.

According to Na'Allah, the university administration is committed to making sure that every employee receives a promotion when and as it is due, with the help and direction of the council.

I must congratulate every member of our staff who was given a promotion by council at its 92nd and 93rd regular meetings, he continued. Without a doubt, this is an example of their diligence, hard work, and resolve. At the University of Abuja, we encourage and cultivate these qualities among our workforce.

"I urge the staff to work even harder going forward because academic excellence does not end with this rank. These jobs require greater effort, accountability, and setting new standards.

Joe Biden unintentionally divulges a "cheat sheet" his aides gave him, instructing him to "take YOUR seat and deliver brief comments." During a meeting with business executives at the White House, US President Joe Biden unintentionally displayed a "cheat sheet" with simple instructions on where to sit and what to do. Biden mistookly handed the list of directions to the photographers, which stated to "take YOUR seat," "YOU deliver brief comments," and "YOU go." The 79-year-old, who is said to have early-stage dementia, was also told to speak with some attendees, engage them in conversation, and thank them before departing. Major worries about the President's wellbeing and mental capacity as he approaches 80 have been raised as a result of his errors.
